The real world is on the verge of Armageddon.

Millions remain trapped in the alternate reality of the Dreamnet.

The rogue A.I. Ikelos is building a new universe, an ultimate reality of its own design. One that will keep humanity enslaved forever.

Christopher ‘Moria’ Unus and his team of Dream Chasers are tasked to deliver the virus that will shut the Nightmare Machine down forever. But when Delta Team take to the deep sea to avoid Ikelos’ Hacked minions in the Real, the A.I. surprises them by bringing a real-world superpower’s navy down on them, trapping Christopher and his friends in a submarine deep under the Arctic ice while they battle in the Dreamnet.

Meanwhile, genius inventor and dream game-designer Kavid Mezzapelli is assembling his own team of brilliant Dreamnet experts to defend the worlds they love.

But the Director of DREAM, Hannibal Heinz, continues to consolidate power into his own super agency, threatening the freedom of billions.

As the final fight approaches, time is running out — for both universes.

THE NIGHTMARE DEEPENS. America is offline. Militias rule the territories between crippled cities. Food and medicine are scarce. Winter approaches. The ‘Hacked’ roam the streets like zombies. Christopher ‘Moria’ Unus must again face his worst fears as he leads an elite team of Dream Chasers in a war against the rogue A.I., IKELOS, a military experiment set loose on the Dreamnet, where the minds of millions remain enslaved.

Forced to team up with the same government agency he’d sworn to hate, Christopher must use all his Chaser skills to free those trapped within the Nightmare Machine while coming face-to-face with his worst nightmare yet — himself.

09/05/19…

Sixteen-year-old Christopher 'Moria' Unus experiences two realities: the humdrum existence of his tower-block home and high school career and the fantasy universe of the Dreamnet — a collection of worlds built within a vast organic quantum computer network, where much of the population now spends its collective time constructing their own versions of life, and where a battle for control over this vast new dream frontier is taking place.

But when Christopher's best friend Dreamnet hacktivist Sarah Furgol stumbles upon an experimental military code to power her own Dreamnet creations, the friends unleash an unthinkable terror, transforming the dream into a nightmare, one that takes the form of Christopher's estranged father.

Faced with the reality of losing Sarah to this unstoppable artificial intelligence, Christopher must choose between joining the sworn enemies of Dreamnet freedom or watching everything they have fought for be destroyed by The Nightmare Machine.

The Award-Winning YA debut…

16-year-old albino Drake Stevenson lives a life alone in his world of video games and comic books, dreaming of one day saving a real princess. But fantasy becomes reality when his lawyer father suffers a heart attack, and the Stevensons are forced to move to flyover country in order to take up the family business: Stewardship of the oldest and largest cemetery in the state.

There, among the weeping angels and willows of Centralia Cemetery, Drake meets Scarlet, an unusual girl who needs his help to find her killer.

Complicated by his albinism, a mentally unstable sister bent on high school domination at any cost, and a jock with a deadly secret, Drake sets out to find the shattering truth about a murder no one will speak of, to help a girl no one can see.

About Martin

Martin Matthews is an expat from England, Great Britain. After living in California for many years, he now lives in Central Illinois with his wife and son.

I go by many names, but you can call me Martin. I grew up on the mean streets of Romford in England. My father was an Irish immigrant who made a living with his hands, and my mother was a care assistant for the elderly and disabled.

Growing up, I was always caught between worlds. My Irish heritage, my English roots, my American family. I spent a lot of time between the US and UK during the 90s, and finally decided to make the transatlantic leap to the New World back in the early 2000s. In 2015, I became an American citizen. And here I am, nearly two decades later, a husband, father, and writer of fiction.

Why I write

I fell in love with stories at a young age. My mother taught me to read at four. At eight, I read the Lord of the Rings and The Hobbit. Those books shaped my ideas about fiction. Some of my favorite and most influential authors include J.R.R. Tolkien, Orson Scott Card, Dean Koontz, Joyce Carol Oates, Frank Herbert, Robert A. Heinlein, and Ursula K. Le Guin.

I got to hang out for a few days with one of those authors on the list. I spent a week in Orem, Utah and had the chance to enjoy talking to Mr. Scott Card.

One of the (lofty) goals of this website is to help other writers by shining a light on their work and their talent. I hope to see you here, ready to read and ready to write, and ready to learn.
